This project aims to make a file make a full featured file manager for the Gnome desktop environment. The Aardvark File Manager will be a quick, extensible and highly usable file manager which will integrate natively in Gnome and will have some support of KDE to. Its user interface will assemble feathers form both Nautilus and Konqueror and some of our own ideas.

It will differ form Nautilus by its speed which will be a key feature and by a great usability (ease of use). Further more it will have a better handling of the Gnome mime types and at some extent support for KDE mime types.

The project will be written in plain C and it will use the GTK widget set, the bonobo component framework (to ensure extendibility) and probably GTK pixbuf library (for icon rendering).
